The Kumasi Circuit Court 3 has remanded into custody, two members of pro-NPP vigilante group Delta Force who were arrested for chasing out Tafo-Pankrono MP Dr Anthony Akoto Osei and disrupting a meeting of the National Patriotic Party.
Richard Yaw Brefo, 51; and Paul Attah Onyinah, 49; have been charged with conspiracy to cause unlawful damage, causing unlawful damage and rioting.
Mr William Kusi, lawyer for the accused persons, pleaded with the court to grant his clients bail since, argued, they are Ghanaians and do not pose any flight risk.
But the prosecutor, Philip B. Jagri, told the court since the police have started investigating the case, granting the accused persons bail could jeopardise the probe.
The court, presided over by Her Honour Lydia Osei Marfo, remanded the two into prison custody to reappear on 24 October 2018.
There was heavy security presence at the court on Wednesday, 10 October 2018, during the hearing.
Counsel for the accused persons was not happy about the remand of his clients, since, according to him, the charges preferred against them are misdemeanors and will not attract a custodial sentence if found guilty.
Mr Kusi said his clients are being tried for allegedly damaging 10 plastic chairs but indicated that they are innocent.
It was surprising, he said, that there was tight security at the court during the hearing today.
He further advised politicians to honour their promises to prevent such occurrences.

Leur faire savoir que la façon de soigner est différente de celle des sorciers et des charlatans et que le Coran recèle guérison et miséricorde, comme l’a informé Allah le Puissant et le Majestueux. 7.
