Earlier this month, the world watched in amazement as a Brazilian gang member, desperate to escape jail, tried to disguise himself as his teenaged daughter.
Convicted drug dealer Clauvino da Silva, 42, dressed up as a girl, including wearing a black wig and a bizarre silicon mask, to try to flee – right under the noses of guards.
He wore women’s clothes, including a bright pink T-shirt and bra, in a bid to elude police by masquerading as his daughter, who was visiting that day.
Officials later said da Silva’s nervousness gave him away – at the last line of security – and they foiled his escape bid.
Da Silva, who was a leader of one of the most powerful criminal groups in Brazil, was found dead in his cell just three days later.
Now, the prison has released CCTV footage of da Silva during his anxious moments waiting in line on August 3.
Prison workers in the video appear suspicious before police arrive on the scene, draw guns and force da Silva to the ground.
The prison has now released this video, which gives context to the events that happened shortly afterwards, in which da Silva peels off the silicon mask.
The unmasking video, released last week, went viral.
